We’re thrilled that our co-founder, Saxon Henry, will be moderating the panel “Writing and Publishing Your Book: From concept to completion to consumption, authors share how they got it done” during the Designer Experience, which takes place on September 24. The subject is apropos for her skills given she’s published through traditional channels; self-publishing channels; and hybrid publishing channels, the latter through our Sharktooth Press imprint when she debuted The Modern Salonnière.
Designer Experience Virtual Vivacity
If you’re someone who feels there is a book inside you that is begging to come out, this panel is for you. The discussion will bring interior designer Sheila Bridges, retailer extraordinaire Ted Kennedy Watson, and successful entrepreneur Christiane Lemieux together to share their book-writing journeys, dish about how they got published, and note best practices for marketing them.
The Designer Experience is a unique community forum that blends timely trends; practical business information; and design education with heart, soul, and a dose of the unexpected. Its organizers have held several events in person but have moved the 2020 festivities to Zoom where everyone can still be together, apart, during the pandemic. Jane Dagmi, the Editor-in-Chief of Designers Today magazine, is at the helm, and the transition to online is just as fun given her lively personality and sharp intellect.
She writes in a letter to the design community at large, “We hosted our first virtual Designer Experience earlier in the summer and I must admit I was skeptical. After hosting four in-person events with incredible on-location programming and relaxed networking opportunities, we knew that Zooming the DX was going to feel quite a bit different. And it did feel different for all the obvious reasons, but by virtue of our community, the players and content, and the intention behind the event, it had that unmistakable DT vibe which is to say soulful energy. Perhaps because most everyone attending was home-based, it also felt remarkably personal.”
The event on September 24th will be no different. To sign up, click through to the agenda and if you like what you see, throw your proverbial hat in the ring. We’d love to “see” you there as these successful authors share their journeys to the publishing promised land!
